The Sandpoint Visitor’s Guide to Not Living Out of a Suitcase

Summer in Sandpoint is one of those things people talk about for years. Lake Pend Oreille on a clear July morning, the beaches at City Beach packed with kayakers and paddleboarders, the farmers market on a Saturday, a live show at The Panida. If you’re visiting from out of town — whether you drove up from Boise, flew into Spokane, or just rolled in on the tail end of a road trip — you already know the problem: clothes pile up fast when you’re actually doing things.

Sand. Sunscreen. Campfire smoke. That one hike that turned into two hikes. By day three, your suitcase smells like a National Forest. Here’s how to handle laundry while you’re visiting the Sandpoint area without wasting half your day doing it.

Option 1: Drop It Off and Go Enjoy Your Day

The easiest option for visitors is wash-dry-fold service. Bring your laundry in, leave it with us, and go do something worth doing. Swim at Schweitzer’s beach access, drive up to Priest Lake, grab lunch at one of the spots downtown — we’ll have your clothes clean, dried, and folded within 24 hours.

Our wash-dry-fold rate is $1.75 per pound with a $15 minimum. For most visitors, a week’s worth of clothes runs $20–$35. You hand us a bag of laundry and get back a neat stack of clean clothes. It’s a better use of your vacation than sitting in a laundromat watching a dryer spin.

Option 2: Self-Service If You Prefer It That Way

Some people just want to do their own laundry. That’s fine too. We have washers starting at $4.00 and large-capacity machines for bigger loads. It’s a quick 45–60 minutes if you bring everything at once, and you can fold at the tables while you wait. Bring a book or just scroll your phone — it’s low-key and oddly satisfying to get it done.

Where to Find Us

We’re at 477181 US-95 in Ponderay — just north of Sandpoint, right off the main highway. If you’re staying anywhere in the Sandpoint area, you’ve almost certainly driven past us. We’re open every day from 8am to 10pm, so you can drop off in the morning before heading out or swing by in the evening after dinner.

Ponderay is basically Sandpoint’s neighbor — about 5 minutes north on US-95. You’ll pass us on the way to or from almost anywhere: the big box stores, the highway north toward Bonners Ferry, or the road back to the Spokane airport.

What to Bring (and What to Tell Us)

If you’re dropping off for wash-dry-fold service, a few tips:

Specialty Items: Horse Blankets and Big Gear

North Idaho attracts people who come with gear. If you’re visiting for trail riding or brought horse blankets along, we can handle those too — just call ahead at (208) 255-2233 so we can make sure we have capacity. Same for sleeping bags, saddle pads, and anything oversized that needs a large-capacity machine.

A Word About Ponderay

Sandpoint gets most of the tourist spotlight — and fairly, it’s a beautiful town — but Ponderay is where a lot of the practical stuff happens. Hardware stores, grocery stores, and yes, the laundromat. Locals know that Ponderay is where you go to get things done without the summer traffic of downtown Sandpoint. We’re quick and easy to get in and out of.

Whether you’re here for a weekend, a week, or one of those summers that turns into something longer, we’re open every day and happy to help you get through the pile. Clean clothes make everything better — including the drive home.
